Free credit note maker
Reduce or cancel an invoice you already issued, for a refund, a return or a pricing mistake. A credit note keeps your records clean instead of editing or deleting the original.
- No signup, no watermark
- Stays in your browser: nothing uploaded
- GST, VAT and sales-tax aware
How it works
Reference the invoice
Enter the original invoice number so both sides can match them.
List what is credited
The items or amount being refunded or corrected, with the same tax rates.
Send and keep it
Download the PDF and keep it with the original invoice.
Why not just edit the invoice?
Once an invoice has been sent, and especially once it is in a GST or VAT return, most tax systems expect you to leave it unchanged and issue a credit note for the difference. That gives an audit trail both you and your client can follow.
In Documents, choose “Convert to credit note” on any invoice: InvoiceKit copies the client and items and fills in the original number. Then adjust the lines to what you are actually crediting.
Frequently asked questions
What is a credit note?
A document that reduces the amount a client owes on an earlier invoice, for example after a return, a discount agreed later or a billing mistake.
Does a credit note need the original invoice number?
It should. Many tax authorities require the credit note to identify the invoice it relates to, and InvoiceKit warns you if it is missing.
Is the credit note maker free?
Yes, with no signup.
Where is my data stored?
Only in this browser on this device (localStorage). InvoiceKit has no accounts and no database, so we never receive your documents, clients or prices. Export a backup from Documents if you want a copy elsewhere.
