How it works
Enter who paid
The customer’s name, and their address if they need it for expenses.
Add what was paid for
Items, tax and the amount received.
Record the payment
Date paid and method (cash, card, UPI, bank transfer).
Receipt or invoice?
An invoice asks for payment; a receipt confirms it was made. If you already sent an invoice, open it in Documents and choose “Convert to receipt”: the invoice number is kept as the reference.
Where you are registered for GST or VAT, the tax invoice is usually the document your customer needs to claim tax back; a receipt alone may not be enough. See your country guide.
Frequently asked questions
What should a receipt include?
Your business name, the receipt number, the date paid, what was paid for, the amount, any tax, and the payment method.
Can I make a receipt from an existing invoice?
Yes. In Documents, choose “Convert to receipt” on the invoice. It copies the details and marks it paid.
Is the receipt maker free?
Yes, with no signup and no watermark.
Where is my data stored?
Only in this browser on this device (localStorage). InvoiceKit has no accounts and no database, so we never receive your documents, clients or prices. Export a backup from Documents if you want a copy elsewhere.
Information only, not tax or legal advice. Tax rules change and depend on your situation. Check the official source or a qualified accountant before relying on them. You are responsible for what your documents say.
